The Virgin Islands Diabetes Center of Excellence (VIDCOE) held a very successful Diabetes Health Fair on Saturday August 24th at the UVI 13D Research & Strategy Innovation Center on St. Thomas. Over 200 people received rapid A1C testing, visits with diabetes specialists such as an Endocrinologist, foot exams with a podiatrist, nutrition counseling sessions, consultation with a local pharmacist, and eye exams to test for diabetes retinopathy.
Judy Gomez, a member of VIDCOE’s board who attended the Diabetes Health Fair to show her support and Senator Ray Fonseca stopped by to show his support and express the importance of establishing VIDCOE services on the island of St. Thomas. Special thanks to Senator Novelle Francis for lobby his colleagues to provide financial support for this event.
